Will this tape remove paint from walls or around the window?

No, the XFasten Transparent Window Weather Sealing Tape's silicone adhesive is strong and waterproof but it is designed to adhere safely to surfaces. Its surface-safe silicone adhesive is designed to not leave any sticky residue, nor will it damage or lift-off paint from walls or window frames. We want to clarify that adhesives can react differently to various surface types, so it is always best to test out a short strip of adhesive on a small corner. Meanwhile, to ensure that no damage is done upon removal, then you can partially warm the adhesive using the warm air exhaust of a hairdryer before you uninstall the tape. This will soften and partially melt the adhesive, thus preventing any and all damage from occuring. We hope that we have answered your question. how is this different from regular packaging tape?

This is thicker. The tape may stick good to packaging, but it I’ve been able to lift and re-stick to seal around a window-mounted A/C. I would suggest purchasing packaging tape for packaging and recommend this for sealing around windows

Does this stick securely to plastic?

It sticks very well to plastic but it also leaves a heavy residue when taken off.

works for window air conditioner?

You can use it to seal out the air around the unit but not for any kind of securing of the unit.
