Perfect for making a nice, clean stitch line on leather
Very good leather marking compass. The dividers are not supposed to line up! One is slightly offset so that it can run along the surface of the leather while the other sits slightly lower on the surface the leather is sitting on, that way you are less likely to slip and make an unwanted mark across the whole leather. It is designed to mark the edge of the leather just inside the perimeter where you are wanting to mark a stitching line. Those who are giving negative reviews saying they do not line up must not be using them for the same purpose ? I am very happy with the quality of this item and I used it on a scrap piece of leather and got perfectly straight lines each time, it is super easy to use and adjusts for more than what I will need it to. This feels like a sturdy and durable tool. I am glad I did not base my purchase decision on the negative reviews. If you are into leather crafting I think this item would be great in your leather tool set, especially if you want it to make a nice, clean stitch line.

Very well made. Precision tool made with quality steel. Very useful tool in my leather crafting. Accurate and repeatable measuring. Definitely recommend

Reliable and accurate
Not perfect, but in the time I have been using , I’ve reached for this compass over and over. The ends are sharp and it stays locked on the spacing selected. It has a tendency to flex a bit under the spring stress. The flex is minor and easy to correct, and the doesn’t creep over time. I’m really happy with this as a marking tool for leather craft and wish I’d bought it sooner.

Misaligned Tips make using this difficult
Misaligned points. Build of the product feels great but the misaligned tips make using this tool feel terrible. Unfortunate.
