This B&K Precision single-output, programmable linear DC power
supply unit provides a constant source of DC voltage and current
for powering and testing electronic devices in research and
development, production, and laboratory applications. The power
supply unit (PSU) has one output that provides DC voltage and
current. The voltage and current output can be adjusted, and the
PSU's internal memory can store up to 16 operating states for
future recall. The unit's vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) is
readable in low light. The PSU has an RS-232 interface for
connecting to a computer (cable included) so that it can be
controlled remotely. Software is included for remote control and
testing applications. An output on/off switch enables or disables
the output, helping to prevent damage to the device under test. A
lock feature disables the front-panel keypad to help prevent
accidental input. The PSU can sit on a workbench or be ed in
a rack (ing hardware sold separately), and it has a
removable handle for carrying or for propping up the meter during
use. A power cord with a three-prong plug is included for
connecting the PSU to a grounded outlet. The PSU's cooling fan
helps prevent overheating, and built-in overload protection helps
prevent damage to the PSU and the device under test. This B&K
Precision power supply unit is offered with a choice of rating
voltage and current, and weight ( https://images-na.ssl-images-.com/images/G/01/BISS/SpecSheets/BKPrecision/B00B03XF7Q.pdf ).

Power supply units (also known as PSUs, AC power supplies, DC
power supplies, and battery eliminators) provide AC or DC voltage
to power or test devices such as tools, appliances, and
electronic components. The PSU draws energy from a line source
such as a wall socket and converts it to a constant, specified
a of voltage or current that is then outputted to a
connected device. In general, a power supply unit will be
classified as either a linear PSU (also known as a linear
regulation or line-frequency PSU) or a switched PSU (also known
as a sw-mode power supply, SMPS, or switcher). Typically,
a linear PSU has a simpler design and provides a faster transient
response time and less electrical interference and noise than a
switched PSU. A switched PSU is often smaller, lighter, and more
efficient than a linear PSU and generates less heat. The
transient response time of a PSU indicates how quickly the PSU
can resume the desired constant output after a sudden change in
input. Ripple voltage or current indicates how much unfiltered
noise and AC voltage or current is present at the output of a
filtered power supply operated at full load. The temperature
coefficient is the percent average change in output voltage per
degree centigrade of change in ambient temperature. Fuses,
current limiters, and other forms of overload protection can be
built into the PSU to help protect against voltage spikes or
short-circuiting.
B&K Precision manufactures test and measurement instruments for
research and development, production-line testing, and electronic
field service applications. The company, founded in 1951, is
